Minnesota (13th to 15th August 2010)

We were kindly invited to the Duluth Bayfront Blues Festival by the lovely Dana and Jade who we met in Death Valley CA in April. Dana was brought up in Minnesota and they keep a holiday home there. Our journey on the 13th took us from Sioux Falls in South Dakota across the southern side of Minnesota, then north through Minneapolis/St Pauls (the Twin Cities) to Moose Lake in the Northwoods.

Moose Lake

This is a quiet village in the middle of the Northwoods about 40 miles from Duluth. The cabin sits in the middle of the woods on the banks of a beautiful lake. Our hosts were wonderful, cooking us great meals and introducing us to a really fun crowd in Duluth. After a few days at the Sturgis Bike Rally our livers were a bit delicate but we managed to just about keep up with the frivolities!

Duluth and the Bayfront Blues

Duluth is a great town. Every year they hold the Bayfront Blues Festival right on the edge of Lake Superior. We spent 2 days at the festival. Dana and Jade's friends were really organised and had a car parked at the venue from 8am so we could eat and drink whilst listening to the music. Jay and Shelly generously gave us a bed for the night which we shared with their huge lab/collie cross, who put up with our beery fumes. In the evenings the bands from the festival perform at various bars across town, so Saturday turned in to a very long day/night - the photos tell the story!

Here's a few photos from the weekend, but please check out the gallery link to see them all.
